da dobrowin: The current pandemic situation we find ourselves in has caused havoc across the globe.
da brdice: Of course, football has not remained untouched. The Premier League, Bundesliga, Serie A, La Liga and Ligue 1 have all suspended their seasons for the next few weeks at least, and the Scottish Premier League has done so recently as well.
They actually left it until a little later before confirming the news, but they were left with no other choice but to do so.
It seems that this could actually be the end of this whole campaign. According to The Scottish Sun, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson is set to cancel the rest of the professional football leagues in the United Kingdom.

The ramifications of such a decision could be huge across Scotland, with teams to potentially already be rewarded or sanctioned for their respective positions. That could very well mean that Celtic are crowned champions of Scotland, whilst Hearts are relegated to the second tier.
Rangers, as such, would finish the season in second place. As it stands, they are currently 13 points behind their Glasgow rivals and, although they have a game in hand, they are unlikely to catch the Bhoys. As such, the decision to end the season could be a positive for Steven Gerrard and co.
For much of the campaign, it looked as if Rangers could dethrone Celtic at the top, but recently, their form has significantly dropped off – they have won four out of their last nine games in the league which, although not atrocious, is far off title pace. Celtic, for example, have won eight of their last nine.
Stopping the season now would allow Gerrard to already begin preparations for next term rather than extend the difficulty of having to play second fiddle. So far ahead of third – Motherwell are 21 points behind – and significantly behind top spot, there is nothing left for them to play for in the Scottish top flight.
Continuing to play this season would have just prolonged the inevitable and given Gerrard even more time time to mull over his future in Glasgow. If poor results followed, he may well have been out the job. After all, he’s already been questioned about his stay at Ibrox.
There are very little positives at the moment, but this would be good news for the Gers. It remains to be seen what course of action the authorities take.
Meanwhile, this Rangers man is providing Steven Gerrard with a headache.
