When Joel Asoro left this summer, some Sunderland fans were furious that such a talented and direct young player was being allowed to leave the club.
They certainly aren’t missing him now though, as the Black Cats have unearthed an even better youngster with Maja.
The 19 year-old has gone from strength to strength under Jack Ross, and grabbed his sixth and seventh goals of the season in Saturday’s 4-1 win over Rochdale.
The Black Cats went ahead shortly before the break when Maja headed home from Chris Maguire’s cross, and the youngster finished his second with great aplomb after a Lynden Gooch penalty had doubled the lead.
Sunderland had a rude awakening when Burton Albion handed them their first loss of the season last weekend, but Maja’s most recent finishing master class has got fans in high spirits again.
