da esoccer bet: According to reports on Turkish website Fanatik, Super Lig giants Fenerbahce are ready to step up their efforts to sign frustrated Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi this summer after making him their number one transfer target.
da betsul: The Blues signed the Belgium international in a £33m deal from Marseille last summer, but he struggled to impress manager Antonio Conte and made just one Premier League start throughout the campaign, playing a total of just 235 top flight minutes.
With the west London outfit not competing in Europe and because of the fine form of Diego Costa, Batshuayi didn’t get the opportunities he would have expected to get in the first team and he may be keen to leave this summer with the 2018 World Cup in Russia less than a year away.
However, the Premier League holders will know that there is more to come from the striker and that they must ward off the interest from Fenerbahce.
Here are three reasons Chelsea must keep hold of Batshuayi…
Statistics
Despite playing just 235 minutes of Premier League football, and 702 minutes in total during his first season for Chelsea, Batshuayi still found the net on nine occasions.
His five top flight goals meant that he averaged one every 47 minutes and that is certainly an impressive record considering the majority of his appearances came from the substitutes’ bench.
While it has only been shown in glimpses so far, the Belgium international has proved that he has a knack of being in the right place at the right time that every great goalscorer has, and that he has the potential to find the net on even more occasions next season if he is given more opportunities.
Striker depth
With Diego Costa unlikely to feature in Conte’s plans next season after the Italian told him by text that he wasn’t needed any more, and with Romelu Lukaku opting to join Manchester United instead of his former employers, Chelsea seem to need all of the strikers they can get right now.
While the Premier League champions will likely bring in a big-money alternative to Lukaku, Batshuayi will likely be competing with that new addition next season and should get plenty of opportunities too as the club look to challenge in the Premier League and in the domestic cups and Champions League too.
Fixture list
As we alluded to previously, one of the reasons Batshuayi didn’t get as many opportunities as he would expected last season was due to the fact that Chelsea were only really competing for the Premier League, and they had a pretty relaxed fixture list.
Diego Costa was able to cope with those demands but it is going to be a different story next term when the Blues return to the Champions League, with more midweek fixtures to deal with.
The 23-year-old will certainly be needed to play his part with more games on the horizon, and the Premier League holders can’t afford to let him go in their current situation.
